& her name is written 加藤 冬子. & her nickname is Fuu-chan. & she is from Kyoto, Japan. & she is 28 years old. & her birthday is January 11th. & she has lived in Luxembourg since 2012. & she speaks Japanese, English and some French. & she smokes, even if just a few cigarettes a week. & her eyesight isn't the best and she usually wears contact lenses, sometimes glasses. & she loves to read, although she doesn't have much time or energy for it in her everyday life. she has read a whole range of classics and prefers older books, although Harry Potter also counts as a favourite.
& she is a soloist with the BG Ballet. & she was a Prix de Lausanne finalist, 2008. & she is a very strong turner and has "turn-out for days" as they say at the ballet. & she's also often complimented for her musicality. & her feet aren't the most nicely arched pair of the bunch, however, and her arms tend towards stiffness. & her favourite ballet is La Bayadère and her biggest dream is performing the role of Nikiya. & her favourite ballerinas count Aurélie Dupont (Paris Opera Ballet - 1 and 2) as well as Shoko Nakamura (Staatsballett Berlin - 1 and 2) and Erina Takahashi (English National Ballet - 1 and 2). & she enjoys performing from both the classical and modern repertories.
& she lives in the attic of an old lady's house whom she lovingly refers to as Dupont-obasan. & she is a closeted bisexual, though she's only had boyfriends up until this point, all of them dancers. & she has a (fangirl-)crush on Claude Bérubé, star dancer at the BG Ballet and dreams of one day being partnered by him, (if not to be the only girl in the world for him). & as she gets older and younger dancers are beginning to overtake her, she has grown increasingly bitter. & her overall inexistent love life only adds to this bitterness and frustration. & she has one sponsor, a rich Japanese man who goes by the name Yamada-san and who has lived in Luxembourg for decades, so now he does his best to support her. & her relationship to her ballet master is ambivalent, she thinks him at heart spineless while simultaneously feeling grateful towards him for the opportunities he's given her.
& she has a British mother and a Japanese father. & her mother, Susan, is a freelance translator and her father, Haruki, a journalist working in the cultural field. & her father inspired her to pursue a career in ballet. & her sister, Chinatsu, lives in London with her husband and daughter, working as a flutist with one of the country's foremost orchestras. & while staying in Luxembourg, she has grown closer to the British side of her family. & her best friend is a classical pianist called Rose, working with the Grand Ducal Philharmonics. & she doesn't miss Japan overly much, as she really likes living in Europe, but does miss her parents a lot.
+ Benjamin Girard; founder of BG Ballet and its current ballet master. imported Fuyuko from a corps position at Birmingham Royal Ballet in 2012 and has since promoted her to soloist. prefers to use her in his small Balanchine repertory and his bigger contemporary repertory, but has slowly begun easing her into more classical roles. they have a complex relationship, since Fuyuko - like most ballet dancers - dreams of an eventual principal position and can only see it slip further and further away from her, as he doesn't cast her in many of the leading roles, not even those she sees herself as a perfect cut for. at the same time as she's disappointed in this development, she is eternally grateful for the move from the UK to Luxembourg and thrives at BG Ballet. + Heidi Dehne (married Girard); former Hamburg Ballet soloist and now principal with the BG Ballet. Benjamin's wife and mother of his two twin girls. has returned from maternity leave and is only getting better. a celebrated interpreter of the dramatic roles such as Odette/Odile, Giselle and Juliet that she used to dance at the Hamburg Ballet. is almost always first cast when Benjamin stages new ballets and has had several original choreographies created for her by him. she's sweet and friendly to all, but Fuyuko still doesn't like her much. like a prototype German, she's hardworking and serious when in rehearsal or on stage. + Claude Bérubé; former Paris Opera Ballet sujet and current star of the BG Ballet. was imported to BG Ballet around the same time as Fuyuko and she has been able to follow his rise to fame from the beginning. he is an all-round talented dancer who can do the classical, dramatic ballets as well as modern, storyless ones. he struggles with the Balanchine rep and has yet to get first cast in any. Fuyuko is in love with him and thinks he's the greatest partner on the European ballet scene currently. she dreams of one day being partnered by him in a piece, something that has yet to happen. unfortunately for her, he's gay through and through and in a committed relationship to another man. + her dressing room mate. + her coach. + her ex-boyfriend.
